📵 #Iran's internet blackout is entering its 68th day after 1608 hours. The general public have now been largely cut off from the global internet for 70% of the year 2026 to date, with some reporting no contact since the beginning of the first digital shutdown in January.

🛠️ It's now the 69th day of #Iran's internet blackout after 1632 hours largely cut off from international networks. The shutdown continues to drive job losses with a disproportionate impact on independent workers, effectively redistributing wealth to regime-aligned groups.

That looks technically very challenging. I can host websites at home with a similar setup as yours, but with a reverse SSH tunnel. My VPS could see more details in my data, I guess, than yours can with your data.
But why do you want your traffic that obscure, as if anyone at the VPS would care to sniff your packets? And why do you call the internet "evil"?

"good outweighs the bad" - Truly, the good, even if apparently few in number, have more power than evil. Evidence: The universe continues to exists after eons and has not been destroyed.
I see you are protecting your network from login attacks, but I assumed you were trying to protect your data from being observed. Maybe both?
You're right about SSH. This man left port 22 open on purpose as a honeypot.

If that were possible, that would be incredibly destructive.

A firewall offers no protection for this kind of vulnerability....
If a computer runs code that has the #CopyFail exploit embedded into it, that program could get root, gain full control of the machine, and send outbound traffic, and even open a reverse SSH tunnel to hackers. The code is so small and could be easily included into malware. Once the script is executed on the machine, that code is already on the inside of the wall, so a firewall does not stop it.
Does this look correct?
@Sorro
The idea that a single-user system is safe from this #CopyFail exploit is false.
If that single user has downloaded or installed malware that includes this tiny-code exploit, the malware could gain root, and root access then grants full system compromise.
I tested the domain.

The feature request looked reasonable. But nobody fulfilled it in over 2 years. I don't think that means it should be closed, though, so I understand your concern.
A few days ago, @alci said (translated to English):
"Well, it looks like Canonical's Infra #ubuntu is suffering a big attack (dos a priori). #launchpad services are all inaccessible.
Fortunately, the main repositories remain operational, updates to the #copyfail vulnerability apply...
Still a little worrying"

It's the user who downloads and installs code, a program, app, utility, or program update that could introduce this exploit.
How did computers get the Linux kernel or update it? Most downloaded the vulnerable kernel, with updates for many years, and that code passed right through any firewall, because the user initiated the download. The exploit gets in the same way, through a user download.
The linked article is two separate stories in one.
The first is Google's concerning action of putting AI on their user's machines without consent. ✅
The other story is about blaming CO2 for the world's problems, but Carbon is the necessary element for life, beginning with plants inhaling Carbon to give us "carbs", the energy our bodies need! Remove Carbon from the atmosphere, and then watch the famines begin.
H2O is a far greater greenhouse gas and who is trying to reduce it?
Google Chrome silently installs a 4GB AI model to computers. If it is deleted, Google causes the machine to re-download the entire thing. There is no consent given by the user, other than installing #Chrome or buying a machine with it pre-installed.

I see your sarcasm and I am sorry that I somehow offended you. Regardless of years technical experience, this exploit is new for most of us. We are all learning together. In my opinion, this is far worse of a threat than most think.
My cat was sitting on my lap last night, and when I spoke to her, that seemed to trigger my Android phone to tell me it could not use speech recognition.
Earlier, I had disabled an app. That seemed to block Android from listening through the mic. And now Android is complaining. But I see no loss of functionality in my phone. I am wondering if Android has previously been eavesdropping on conversations, until I disabled this app.

I guess it's impossible to remove Google from Android phones. I have disabled Google, but cannot delete it. And it re-enabled itself later. The only way out of this, I'm thinking, is an alternative operating system for the phone.

@mcSlibinas
Yeah, the phone allows me to disable Google (also in ADB shell) but it does not allow me to delete it. It won't even allow me to delete the YouTube app, which I never use on my phone, and is just wasting space.
@mcSlibinas
Right, I tried that yesterday for many unused apps. While the ADB shell command disabled the apps from running, I was disappointed that none of the phone's storage space was freed up. The apps are still there, dormant. I cannot delete the apps, but as you suggest, I can disable them.
